Poore Farm, 2013 Hours and Events (thus far)

The Poore Family Homestead Historic Farm Museum 
2013 Hours and Events


The Poore Farm Museum is an historic homestead / settlement documenting one family's life from the 1830's to the 1980s.  The house, barns and outbuildings are all in authentic condition and reflect their original use and era.   The feeling one gets when you enter the Homestead is to step back in time, to one that existed prior to rural electrification of the northern most regions of NH.

June:  hours

        * Saturday & Sunday--11:AM to 3:PM    (or as posted)

* Sunday, July 7th  : THE POORE FAMILY HOMESTEAD FARM MUSEUM
***  19th Annual Open Barn & Celebration   ***
Celebrating Our Founder's 128th  Birthday and 19 Years of Public Service.
 View the many newly displayed artitfacts, meet the directors, enjoy the music and an old-world demonstrations.
 * Music by: Harold Boydston, Playing Authentic Western Cowboy Tunes on Guitar and Mandolin.
* Hope Manseau will be demonstrating: rug weaving on the Poore Family loom, preparing wool and spinning on a traditional spinning wheel.  Be ready to get involved. Hope will have you helping in the process and showing you how to make yarn on a drop spindle that you can make at home.    Hope will also be demonstrating how soap was make in the 1800s.

* Free Birthday Cake and Lemonade will be served.
Open to the public 11:AM to 4:PM
Admission is by Donation.  All contributions are fully Tax deductible.

* Sunday July 7th :    THE POORE FAMILY HOMESTEAD FARM MUSEUM
***  American Mountain Men - Reenactment at the Poore Farm ***
The "Great North Woods Party", the local chapter of the American Mountain Men, will have an historic encampment at the Poore Farm for one day.
See The American Mountain Men, their traditions and way of life.  See how our Nation's greatest, most daring explorers and pioneers lived and survived alone in America’s vast wilderness, using only what nature had to offer.  Visitors will see firsthand what life was like on the frontier and how the guns of the era work. 
Open to the public 11:AM to 4:PM
Admission is by Donation.  All contributions are fully Tax deductible.

Held At the Poore Farm Amphitheater and Stage Area.
 South field parking, Watch for signs.

Admission: $8 per adult, accompanied children under 12 are FREE.

POORE FEST 2013
Please join us…
The Poore Family Foundation is hosting Poore Fest 2013, a daylong musical event, on Sunday, August 11th, from 11 a.m. to 6: p.m.
The Music Festival will showcase a number of local talents across a variety of genres ranging from traditional folk to classic rock and roll.  A schedule of performers will be posted in advance of the event.
The Poore Family Homestead Historic Farm Museum will also be open throughout the day, allowing visitors the chance to view over 175 year’s worth of Poore family history.
 Poore Fest 2013 will be presented in the Poore Homestead’s Amphitheater and stage area, just off NH Route 145 in Stewartstown.  Watch for signs.
All proceeds will benefit the Poore Farm Museum.
Admission:  $8 per adult, accompanied children under 12 are FREE.

Fifth Grade Field Trip, 2012

Colebrook, NH, Elementary School Fifth Grade Students 
Visit the Poore Farm Museum. September 21, 2012.

The students toured the Museum, acted out on Stage, hiked the trails down to the Nature Center, had a picnic lunch, picked apples and pressed some fresh Apple Cider.




A great time was had by all.

Colebrook High School Honor Students Annual Day of Service

Colebrook Academy High School Honor Students and Student Council Members Annual Day of Service and  Clean-up at The Poore Family Farm Museum. 

Early spring of each year, Students, Teachers, Foundation Directors and Volunteers come together and work side by side to clean and prepare the Museum for another season.  We also have a barbecue lunch and take time to visit.
This was the 14th consecutive year of service.

Annual Open Barn and Celebration, July 2012

The Poore Farm's 18th "Annual Open Barn and Celebration" was held on Sunday, July 1st, 2012 
We celebrated our Founder’s (J.C. Kenneth Poore) 127th birthday and the Museum’s 18th year of service to the community and state.  

Music was by Harold Boydston, and White Wolf & Friend. Birthday Cake and Lemonade was served.  All were welcome and everyone enjoyed their stay.

The Museum is a significant cultural and historic New Hampshire destination.
