The Poore Family Homestead Historic Farm Museum
2015 Hours and Events
The Poore Farm Museum is an historic
homestead / settlement documenting one family's life from the 1830's to the
1980s. The house, barns and
outbuildings are all in original condition and reflect their use and era. The feeling one gets when you
enter the homestead is to step back in time, to one that existed prior to rural
electrification of the northern most regions of NH.

- Reenactment at the Poore Farm ***
The
"North East Company", the local chapter of the American Mountain Men,
will have an historic encampment at the Poore Farm for two days.
See The
American Mountain Men, their traditions and way of life. See how our Nation's greatest, most
daring explorers and pioneers lived and survived alone in America’s vast
wilderness, using only what nature had to offer. Visitors will see firsthand what life was like on the
frontier and how the guns of the era work.

Open Barn & Celebration ***
Celebrating
Our Founder's 130th
Birthday and 21 Years of Public Service.
View the
many displayed artitfacts, meet the directors and volunteers, enjoy the music
and some old-world demonstrations.
Music by:
Harold Boydston, Playing Authentic Western Cowboy Tunes on Guitar and
Mandolin.
Period Dressed Reenactors
including Hope Carpenter will be on hand again this year demonstrating Weaving,
Spinning and Soap Making. Audience participation is encouraged! Try a
Drop Spindle or another 1800's craft!
Lady Beefheart will be on hand to demonstrate brain and egg tanning
animal hides, and Albert Cloutier will be back again, crafting axe and hatchet
handles out of White Mountain Ash.
Do not
miss these demonstrations !
Free Birthday Cake and Lemonade will be served.

*** Poore Music, Arts & Homesteading Festival 2015 ***
A Day Long
Musical Event
The concerts
will show case a number of talents across a variety of genres ranging from
traditional folk, bluegrass, blues to progressive rock and roll. Fire dancers too!
The event is being held at The Poore
Homestead’s Amphitheater and Stage venue, just off NH Route 145 in Stewartstown.
Watch for signs.
The Museum
will also be open throughout the day, allowing guests the chance to view over
180 year’s worth of Poore family history.
